New Age Tip Restraint Recall Information

On January 11, 2024, in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Alliance4Safety and a number of participating furniture companies announced the recall of a plastic furniture tip restraint kit manufactured by New Age Industries Co., Ltd., of Vietnam. On September 3, Health Canada also issued a recall alert. Millions of these tip restraints were supplied to furniture manufacturers and importers for use with clothing storage furniture sold in the United States and Canada since November 2019.

The plastic, zip-tie style tip restraints can become brittle or break, posing a tip-over and entrapment hazard involving the clothing storage furniture to which they are attached. Furniture tip-overs can result in death or serious injuries to consumers, especially small children.

Consumers should immediately use the checklist below to identify if they own any clothing storage furniture sold with a New Age tip restraint and, if so, to request a replacement kit approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.

Safe At The Factory Door
  1. Do you own a piece of furniture manufactured or purchased after November 2019, that is a dresser, chest, or other piece designed to hold clothing?
  2. If YES, was your furniture manufactured by a company on the list below?

  3. If yes, proceed to Step 2!
Safe On The Factory Floor
  1. If you answered “YES” to all of the above questions, then you should request a free replacement tip restraint!
     
    COMPLETE THE FORM
  2. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.
Safe In The Store
  1. Remove and discard the old tip restraint device.
  2. If you never installed the tip restraint, it may still be attached to the back of your furniture.
